Making light of heavy metal

Exclusive Spanish Trevi Benne distributor BYG S.A has recently delivered the first of the former’s Marilyn CS 160RS shears to Francisco Mata S.A. The latter is the leading company on the Iberian Peninsula operating in the field of recovery, treatment and sale of ferrous materials from industrial demolition projects and ship dismantling.

It is in one of four facilities owned by Mata that the CS 160RS will be used for the demolition and complete reduction of large ships, profiles of considerable size and metal structures with substantial thicknesses. Once processed, this material will be sent to various facilities in the region where it will be recycled.

The shear is boom mounted on a Liebherr R984 excavator. The CS 160RS, the most powerful of the Marilyn Series offered by Trevi Benne, has a weight of 15.500 kg (34,100 lb)., a height of over 5 m (16.4 ft), a maximum jaw opening of 1.1 m (3.6 ft) and provides a force of more than 1.300 tonnes at the blades.
