Contract awarded for transport system in Brazil

COMSA and Brazilian construction company Marquise have been awarded the transport contract

Global infrastructure, engineering and services group COMSA and Brazilian infrastructure firm Marquise have been awarded the contract to complete the Belém integrated transport system, known as BRT Metropolitan.

The project, valued at around US$116 million, will improve the mobility of the inhabitants of the state of Pará, Brazil, and boost sustainable transport in the region.

The contract includes the construction of a 10.8km long bus lane, 39 bus stops with passenger access control, a 125m long, 24.7m wide viaduct with a mixed structure, and eleven pedestrian walkways.

The project also includes the construction of the Operational Control Centre, incorporating the implementation and commissioning of the management system for the entire BRT network.

In addition to the Belém works, COMSA is working on other projects in Brazil, such as the construction of a bridge over the Araguaia River on the BR-080 highway and the duplication of the BR-101 highway between the cities of Rio Largo, São Miguel dos Campos and Teotônio Vilela, among other projects.
