Attachment specialist helps tackle major demolition project

British demolition and dismantling company, S Evans and Sons, has recently invested in a new frontline LaBounty shear for projects to take down redundant buildings on British Steel’s huge Scunthorpe Steelworks in the north of England.

Based in Widnes in the north-west, S Evans operates throughout the United Kingdom. It runs a variety of shears, the latest of which is the LaBounty MSD 4000R Legend Shear supplied by UK dealer BPH Attachments.

“We needed a new shear to tackle the heavy dismantling works we have programmed at Scunthorpe” said S Evans’ operations director Jordan Sumner.

“We have some very heavy steel sections on our upcoming projects and the revised beak design with improved penetration and lower maintenance costs impressed us immensely.”

With an operating weight close to 10 t, the MS4000R has been mounted to Evans’ 90 t Hitachi 870 excavator.

The shear boasts a jaw opening more than 1 m (3 ft 3 in) wide with a cutting force of over 1,800 t, which allows it to handle the heaviest steel sections at the steelworks.
